3 Emerging Gardening Trends
There is no denying that 2020 has been a curious year for us all. The lockdown, the distancing and new safety measures put in to place because of Coronavirus have all caused massive changes for us.
One thing however has remained consistent with our nation however is the desire for beautiful outdoor spaces and gardens.
In fact, despite the ongoing uncertainty in the world, we have seen a surge in the amount of people looking to invest in their gardens as to somewhat enhance their lives both during lockdown and beyond.
In this short article, we want to share with you our top three trends that are starting to become more and more popular.
Growing Your Own
This year has seen a massive surge in people looking to once again grow their own fruit and vegetables not only to understand and recognise where their food is coming from, but also as a back-up source of food should shops start to run out of supply again like they did at the start of the year.
Fruit trees, vegetable and fruit plots make for the perfect addition to any garden; no matter the shape or size. If planned well, the stereotypical ‘grown your own’ varieties can be implemented into many a planting scheme.
Gardening and Wellbeing
At the end of 2019 and into early 2020, we saw a big rise in understanding of climate change, and the small things we can do to help prevent a negative impact on the environment. This, partnered alongside people recognising the therapeutic benefits of gardening has led to more and more of us picking up the trowel once again and venturing out into the seasons.
We have seen first-hand that gardening is no longer a pastime for the older generations, but one that any of us can take part in.
One of the reoccurring themes our clients ask for is their desire for space outside to spend time with family and friends. Sure, gardens have always incorporated some form of seating areas entwined with stunning planting schemes, but now the brief extends out to large seating plans, outdoor kitchens, and even multiple seating areas as to allow the garden to be seen from different perspectives and different times of the day.
We have no doubt in our minds that these trends will continue into the latter stages of 2020 and beyond into the years to come.
